Dexter Sol Ansell is a fresh curd of a performer, still soft on the board but carrying surprises already. He began at two years old in Emmerdale, returned to the show in 2019, and has spent the last few years building a range that keeps widening without ever losing its centre. The Midwich Cuckoos showed his ability to hold a dark story. David Saunders had to be unsettling without shouting about it, and Ansell kept the wrongness quiet and credible. The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes gave him Young Coriolanus Snow, a role that demands you play a man before he becomes one, and he crumbled the performance into layers rather than declaring ambition all at once. Christmas on Mistletoe Farm let him be funny; Robin and the Hoods gave him a family adventure; Here, directed by Bob Zemeckis, and The Moor show he is not afraid of different textures or genres. Ansell does not milk a moment or oversell a scene. He lets the work sit where it lands. Still young, still maturing, and the curds are already showing depth.
